About Mindy Stackpoole
Certified Clinical Pilates Instructor · MAS Movement Pilates · Montrose, CA
I teach Pilates because it saved my body. And I've watched it save others.
Not in a dramatic, overnight way. In the quiet, cumulative way that happens when you finally give your body the right kind of attention, and it responds.
I work with women over 40 who are dealing with pain, limited movement, and the particular frustration of feeling like their body is working against them. I understand that frustration personally. And I know there's a way through it.
Why I Do This Work
I didn't come to Pilates through a fitness career. I came to it through my own body breaking down and needing to find a way back.
After my breast cancer surgeries I was left with limited mobility that affected everything, how I moved, how I slept, how I felt in my own skin. Pilates gave me that back. Full mobility, restored. Along the way it also resolved the chronic back and neck pain I'd carried for years. Then when I fell from my horse and shattered my knee, I knew exactly what to do, and I rehabbed myself back to riding.
What I Hear From Women Every Day
When I'm working with clients, the same themes come up again and again; perimenopause and menopause, poor sleep, stubborn weight that won't shift, chronic aches and pains that have been dismissed or managed but never resolved. These aren't separate problems. They're all connected to how the body moves, recovers, and responds to stress.
What I do is look at where someone is limited, in mobility, in strength, in confidence and help them build from there. No guessing. No generic programs. Just careful, clinical attention to what your specific body needs.
My favorite moment in any session is when a client tells me about something they used to do, stopped doing, and is doing again. Or something they never thought their body was capable of and now it is. That moment never gets old.
What Happens in the Room
Something I didn't expect when I opened MAS Movement was the community that would grow inside the small groups. Friendships form. Women support each other through hard seasons. Projects get started. Networks get built. The studio became something more than a place to exercise it became a room full of women showing up for themselves and each other.
That's the part I couldn't have planned for. And it's one of my favorite things about this work.
